Detecting maize streak virus using remote sensing techniques
In sub-Saharan Africa, maize is the single most important cereal crop, yet it is frequently devastated by Maize Streak Virus (MSV), an endemic, insect-vectored disease which can cause 100% yield loss. This projects investigates novel ground- and UAV-based remote sensing techniques to develop an operational basis for developing sustainable agriculture approaches to mitigate against the spread of the virus in Ugandan maize crops.
